The local Legion Ladies Auxiliary held a general meeting last Wednesday (Oct. 13) with 42 members present.
A delicious potluck supper was enjoyed by all.
The charter was draped in memory of long-time members Billie Clarke and Carolyn Murray.
In other news, the name of Bonnie Penny was brought forward and approved for initiation at the November general meeting.
The attendance draw was won by Audrey Thomson while Loreen Ring won the birthday draw.
A donation also was made to the District 7 Scholarship fund.
Our upcoming events include a pork cutlet supper, with all the trimmings, to be held next Friday (Oct 29) at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.
Admission is $13 per person and everyone is welcome.
This Sunday (Oct. 24), Bea Galbraith will be holding a workshop to make crafts for the annual Remembrance Day tea.
If you can help, contact Bea at 481-2560 for more info.
Meanwhile, Roseanna Tweedie will be holding a meat pie workshop on Monday, Nov. 1 and Tuesday, Nov. 2.
If you can help, contact Roseanna at 486-3437. Helpers are needed.
The Remembrance Day tea will be held Sunday, Nov. 7 upstairs at the Legion, with admission being $4.
Come on out—and bring a friend!
Volunteers also needed to help with table set-up on Saturday, Nov. 6. Contact Diane Taggart (274-9574) if you can help out.
On Remembrance Day (Nov. 11), the auxiliary colour party will attend Robert Moore School for ceremony and then proceed to the cenotaph.
Meanwhile, plans are in full swing for the district meeting/rally in March, 2011 (a big thank you to Royal Bank for the donation of decorations).
The next general meeting of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 10, and will include the election of officers for the coming year.
Any ladies interested in joining the auxiliary can contact Linda Larocque at 274-1567. Membership no longer is restricted to relatives of veterans.
The Legion auxiliary is a great way to meet people and contribute to your community.
