A new Regional Senior Judge has been appointed by the province for the Ontario Court of Justice’s North West Region.
Justice Marc Bode was appointed to the position by Chief Justice Annemarie Bonkalo, effective Aug. 12.
As Regional Senior Judge of the Ontario Court of Justice, Bode’s duties include scheduling court hearings, assigning judges to court hearings, and assigning cases and other judicial duties to individual judges.
Bode was called to the bar in 1980 and practised criminal, family, labour, and employment law.
He was appointed as a provincial judge, presiding in Thunder Bay, in January, 2008.
In the past, Bode has served as Legal Aid Ontario’s area director for the district of Thunder Bay, president of the Legal Aid Ontario Area Directors Association, and president of the Thunder Bay Law Association.
Bode also was a member of the Thunder Bay Youth Justice Committee and a member of the Ontario Bar Association Council.
