New fires spring up


New fires were reported over the weekend, including two in the Fort Frances area, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported.
Fort Frances Fire #3 is a human-caused fire first reported on Good Friday.
The 16.3-hectare blaze, located north of Pinewood, now is classified as “under control.”
Fort Frances Fire #4 also was reported Friday.
The 1.1-ha human-caused blaze, located along the Rainy River between Emo and Barwick, is classified as “under control,” as well.
The two other fires are burning in the Dryden District and Kenora District.
These districts have seen eight and 13 fires, respectively, since April 1.
The region has seen a total of 30 fires to date, which altogether have consumed 82.1 hectares.
