Dr. Clarke Allen, born and raised in Fort Frances, is excited to be home to help residents with their aches and pains.
Dr. Allen returned here in January, but only joined Cooper Chiropractic as an associate to Dr. Neil Cooper as of last Thursday.
After living in Toronto, Thunder Bay, and Minneapolis, Allen said there is something about coming home.
“I loved the area: the hunting and fishing,” he remarked.
Dr. Allen did not always plan on becoming a chiropractor. With a degree in biochemistry, he was interested in environmental engineering and had worked in the environmental department at the local paper mill.
During his time at the mill, Dr. Allen saw the benefits of chiropractic through his own experience and some of his co-workers. He then realized he might be interested in making it a career because he saw how it could help people manage their pain and health.
Dr. Allen graduated in November, 2004 with a Doctor in Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minnesota and spent a year working in Minneapolis.
He is glad to be home, and said he feels the need for chiropractic is high in Fort Frances because of that large manual labour base.
With Dr. Allen joining Cooper Chiropractic, patients now will be able to make appointments on Saturday as he will be working in the Second Street East office from 8 a.m. until noon that day.
