The 400 block of Scott Street has an oriental flavour to it after local entrepreneurs Le and Sung Truong opened the doors to “Lee Garden” on Monday morning.
The restaurant is located at the old Huddle Cafe, which the couple bought from long-time owner Louis Rego three months ago.
But the Truongs, who immigrated to Canada from Vietnam in 1979 sponsored by the United Church in Emo, certainly aren’t strangers to the food business. They ran “Le Hoa” Restaurant on the 200 block of Scott Street from 1985-88–and they haven’t been far from the kitchen since.
Sung spent most of the last 10 years employed by John Chan as cook at the Red Dog Inn here while Le was helping Chan’s wife, Chai, run the restaurant at the curling club.
“We like having our own business,” Le said Monday, with her husband acknowledging they had missed the busy lifestyle it created for them once before.
“Lee Garden,” which sports a new and expanded interior, is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. A lunch buffet is featured from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
