NCDS Career Services, Valley Adult Learning Association, and Rainy River Valley Safety Coalition staged the grand opening of their new offices last Thursday and members of all three groups had one thing to say–“We love it.”
“When the landlords asked if we wanted it, we said ‘Yes!’” enthused NCDS executive director Janet Plumridge at the grand opening.
Plumridge also was happy to see so many business owners, board members, and the public show up to check out the new offices at 304 Scott St.
The two-floor layout provides lots of room for all three services to operate efficiently and hold tutorials. Two classrooms and an office are located on the lower level, with six private offices and two workshops on the top floor.
And Plumridge said the building still has “potential for development.”
Co-ordinating the layout of the offices was done with output from all three services, with NCDS career advisor Sharon Hagerty designing the layout for the whole top floor.
But most important of all is the increased focus the central location gives to the three services.
“It’s been a positive move for our association,” VALA co-ordinator Barb Eldridge noted. “It strengthens the community partnerships that we’ve been trying to build up over the past few years.”
John Weiler ($50 gift certificate from Cripes It’s A Castle) and Rick Wiedenhoeft ($50 gift certificate from Northwoods Gallery) were the big door prize winners, with 10 others taking home water bottles and T-shirts bearing the NCDS logo.
