Local MP Robert Nault, also the minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, will be here Wednesday to host an information seminar with local businesses, town officials, and the public.
The session, entitled “How to Build a Diversified Economy in Your Community and the Role of the Federal Government,” will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Red Dog Inn.
Nault said the objective of the session is to see what the important issues are in the local community and what role Ottawa might play in resolving them.
“In an effort to build stronger and more diverse economies in Kenora-Rainy River, I think that a regular dialogue is required,” Nault said in a recent column.
The seminar will include presentations from FedNor, Canada Customs and Revenue, Public Works, and Government Services. There also will be a discussion on how to make it easier for young people to remain in the community.
Nault hopes the ideas and suggestions offered at tomorrow’s meeting will help solve some of the economic concerns facing this area.
“I have always believed local solutions to local issues are key to the future of our region,” he stressed.
Similar sessions were slated in Dryden on Tuesday afternoon and for Kenora on Thursday morning.
