Mystery powder deemed not harmful

Robert Moore School and the adjacent Rainy River District School Board re-opened today after tests on an unknown substance found at the school last Thursday afternoon showed it did not pose a danger to staff or students.
“Preliminary results show that it does not contain any biological agents harmful to human health,” the Northwestern Health Unit said in a press release Friday.
The OPP was called shortly after 5 p.m. when a bag containing a white powdery substance was found on the steps of the school.
Police called in the health unit, which then ordered the school and the school board office closed Friday until tests could be conducted on the powder.
The school board stated no children had come into contact with the substance.
The health unit did not reveal what the white powder was.
