Muskie girls beat Eagles

The Muskie girls’ hockey team notched a 3-2 victory in NorWOSSA action in Dryden last night.
The black-and-gold are now 2-1-1 against the Eagles in league play.
“The girls played really well last night,” said head coach Lynn Kellar. “A few of the things we’ve been practising are working for us.”
Taylor Meyers opened the scoring at 8:03 of the first period. Kailey Curtis drew the assist.
Dryden tied the game two minutes later, then grabbed a 2-1 lead at 16:51 of the second period. But Miranda Kellar (Meyers) later scored to pull the Muskies even.
Meyers (Kellar) then netted her second of the game with just 55 seconds left in the period, which proved to be the game-winner as neither team could score in the third.
The Muskie girls return to the ice Jan. 27 for an exhibition game versus Eveleth at the Ice for Kids Arena.
In related news, the Muskie boys’ hockey team will face the Dryden Eagles here tomorrow night (Jan. 20) in a game originally scheduled in November but cancelled due to bad weather.
The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
