The Fort Frances High School Music Department’s annual fall musical revue—this year entitled “The 4 Elements—Earth, Fire, Wind, and Rain”—is ready to hit the Townshend Theatre stage tomorrow through Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
“It’s a lot of fun,” enthused Larissa Desrosiers, a recent Fort High graduate who has returned to help out with the show.
“And I think the audience will find it a bit different, in a good way, than musical revues in the past,” she added, noting there is a bit of a storyline involved where students are “auditioning” for a musical revue.
“It really reflects how we go about preparing for a show like this,” she stressed.
Desrosiers indicated there are some funny parts, as well as some touching moments.
“I think people are really going to enjoy it,” she remarked.
The musical revue—which includes 30 cast members, four technicians, and five musicians—will feature six-eight songs for each element, with “Earth” and “Fire” in the first half of the show and “Water” and “Air” in the second half.
“There is a variety of styles of songs,” Desrosiers revealed.
The cast will be performing everything from Imagine Dragon’s “On Top of the World” and Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” to CCR’s “Have you Ever Seen the Rain” and Sara Bareilles’ “Breathe Again.”
It also includes Broadway songs, ballads, R&B tunes, and songs from “Glee” and “SMASH.”
“There are a lot of extraordinary singers and performers,” Desrosiers said, adding several numbers include choreographed dance routines.
“We just really hope people come out and see what we’ve been working on,” she remarked.
Music teacher Lisa Loney, who has been the director of the show, also is looking forward to the performance.
She said she really enjoys working with the students.
“It will be a bittersweet moment Saturday night watching the students who are in their fourth and final revue at our school,” Loney admitted.
“I will miss them and hope they continue to be involved in the fine arts long after they leave FFHS.”
Tickets, which cost $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors, are available at Northwoods Gallery & Gifts and the door.
