The Fort Frances Museum is hoping town council will allocate extra dollars for another staff member in its 2016 budget.
The museum currently has a collections management co-ordinator, Bethany Waite, who is being employed through a grant until the end of next July.
The Museum Advisory Committee has requested council consider hiring a full-time person at the end of that term.
This would require a financial commitment for half of the year in 2016 and then full years going forward.
If this is not feasible, the committee has requested that a part-time position be created to work 20 hours a week.
In addition to Waite, the museum currently has only one employee—curator Sherry George.
Council is expected to forward the request to its 2016 budget process.
The committee of the whole meeting starts first at 5:30 p.m., but will be in-camera for an unspecified period of time.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•a presentation from the Northwestern Health Unit re: healthy food policy;
•a participant agreement with the Ontario Power Authority re: the SaveONEnergy Retrofit Program;
•the 2016 user fee schedule;
•a report re: marriage solemnization services;
•a financial request from the Power Dam Project Group;
•a request from the Sunset Country Métis re: proclaiming Nov. 16-20 as “Louis Riel Week” in Fort Frances;
•a request from the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau re: the annual community Christmas dinner; and
•a petition from a resident of the 800 block of Nelson Street re: existing storm sewer replacement.
