Museum hosting exhibit

The Fort Frances Museum welcomes you to “Passions Threadworks 2007: A Juried Exhibition of Needle Arts.”
Fort Frances has hosted past “Threadworks” exhibitions from the Ontario Association of Needleworkers, including “Navigations” in 1999, “Elements” in 2002, and “Garden Party” in 2004.
Of the hundreds of entries, 60 were chosen by the jury to appear in the original show at the Wellington County Museum & Archives—and which are now travelling across Ontario.
Challenged with the theme of “Passions,” creative needle artists stretch the artistic boundaries and so the display is a showcase of talent and excellence in workmanship and design.
The unique and innovative interpretations of the theme include intricate beading, wall hangings, and creations using a variety of traditional and experimental techniques.
“Passions” includes award-winning pieces in a variety of categories, including traditional embroidery, hand stitchery, mixed media, bead work, and three-dimensional pieces.
The show is an amazing array of talent, colour, and inspiration.
The Fort Frances Museum invites children on to drop in and make their own threadworks creations during March Break (March 10-14) from 1-4 p.m. each day.
Special interest groups, school classes, quilting groups, etc. are invited to arrange for special tours.
The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Contact us at 274-7891 or e-mail Katie at kurban@fort-frances.com
