Museum holding art show Sunday

Just in time for those still shopping for gifts, the Fort Frances Museum is staging a “Christmas Artisans Show” in the cafeteria of Fort Frances High School this Sunday (Dec. 17) from 2-9 p.m.
Museum curator Pam Hawley said yesterday numerous local artists have been lined up to either sell or display their creations that day—a variety of work ranging from pottery to paintings and prints.
Besides Fine Line Art Gallery members, Cher Pruys, Kari-Ann Anderson, and Kate Woods are just a few of the participating artisans, she added.
Hawley noted the last time such a local exhibit was held here was back in 2003 as part of the town’s centennial celebrations.
Sunday’s show also will feature baking from Tess’ Kitchen for sale, a silent auction, door prizes, and refreshments.
Hawley noted the museum usually holds at least one open house for children around this time of year, but since the museum is under renovation, Sunday’s event will offer a kids’ Christmas ornament and card-making area instead.
While it partly coincides with the sold-out “Glorious Christmas” concert featuring Diane Maxey’s “Choraliers” and the Borderland Community Orchestra at the Townshend Theatre at 7 p.m. that day, Hawley stressed anyone is welcome to come and check out the artisans show.
The artisans show also will be the place to get tickets for upcoming performances at the Townshend Theatre, such as “Kids & Co.,” the 2007-08 “tour de Fort” season, and the Dini Petty show slated for Jan. 26.
A portion of proceeds from the Christmas artisans show, “Glorious Christmas” concert, and the Dini Petty show will go towards the museum renovation project.
The museum currently is open at 334 Scott St. on Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
