Organizers are hoping Thursday, Nov. 3 will be an exciting—and profitable—“Night at the Museum.”
The fifth-annual wine-and-cheese fundraiser will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Museum.
“This year’s theme is ‘Night at the Museum,’” said Sarah Marusyk, acting president of the “Friends of the Museum,” which hosts the annual gala
“Because the museum will be in-between exhibitions, the ‘Friends’ wanted to run with a theme that we could have some fun with,” she explained.
“We’ll be paying homage to the film, ‘Night at the Museum,’ by creating our own, interactive displays.
“We encourage our guests to dress as their favourite historical character, but museum patrons with open wallets are also welcome,” Marusyk added.
Tickets, now available at the museum and From the Grind Up, cost $30 each in advance and $35 at the door.
“Please get yours early as they are limited–and cheaper in advance,” noted Marusyk.
The evening once again will feature live music by the Rainy Lake Community Orchestra.
“In addition to enjoying the orchestra, folks can look forward to bidding on local art and craftwork, playing a variety of games—all while enjoying wine, cheese, and a delectable selection of hors d’oeuvres,” Marusyk said.

Artists and businesses will be recognized for their donations throughout the evening.
Meanwhile, the “Friends” also will be unveiling and selling its 2017 calendar at the gala.
“It’s a big year for the ‘Friends of the Museum’ calendar,” enthused Marusyk.
“Canada is turning 150, and we’re celebrating our community’s moments and milestones through the years,” she noted.
“If you’d like to get your calendar hot off the press, sales launch the evening of ‘Night at the Museum.’”
