Murder at Sixth Street apartments

A suspect has been apprehended and police are investigating after a youth was stabbed and killed behind 1024 Webster Avenue North this morning.
The OPP have reported that at 3 a.m. this morning a severely-wounded male youth was found behind the apartments on the corner of Webster Avenue and Sixth Street
The youth was transported to La Verendrye Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The OPP are not releasing the name of the deceased pending notification of next-of-kin.
Later this morning, at approximately 9 a.m., a suspect was nabbed in front of the Fort Frances Courthouse with the help of a police K-9 unit.
Before the arrest this morning the OPP, along with the K-9 unit, Emergency Response Team and Northwest Region Crime Unit were searching for a suspect.
Blockades were put up and motorists stopped as far away as the Highway 11/71 junction on Manitou Reserve.
“They were looking for a murder suspect, they were stopping every car here,” noted J.D. Junction store owner Debbie Leonard.
Little other information is available as the investigation continues under the direction of Det. Insp. D.J. Olinyk.
An OPP cruiser is also stationed near a vehicle in the parking lot of Rainy Lake Sports and Tackle on Front Street, but police would not reveal whether it was involved in the incident.
“Everything happened fairly quickly here and it’s still under investigation,” noted OPP Cst. Cameron Howard.
