Town council will receive a presentation this evening from local artist Lindsay Hamilton regarding the possibility of locating a mural on the wall in the ’52 Canadians Arena, by the doorway to the Ice For Kids Arena.
She will have a short video presentation on the project for council’s consideration.
The mural was designed and completed by a class of 10- to 13-year-olds during a Confederation College art program earlier this summer.
The council portion of tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 6:22 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30, but is expected to be in-camera until about 6:05.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•Tender #11-CS-08 (handicapped transit bus replacement);
•Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. internship applications;
•a recommendation in response to a Borderland Roller Derby marketing request re: a derby bout here in honour of “Rachel’s Challenge”;
•a recommendation in response to a Sunset Country Travel Association financial request;
•a recommendation re: solar panel project financing;
•a report re: a residential demolition grant at 1107 Second St. E.;
•a purchase card expense claim for Mayor Roy Avis;
•a report re: improvements to signage within the “community safety zones” along King’s Highway;
•a financial request from the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame and Museum re: advertising for its 30th-annual induction dinner souvenir program;
•a bylaw to approve an amendment to a development agreement with Steve William Both, Richard Morken, and 1578289 Ontario Ltd. re: development at 260 First St. E.; and
•a watering bylaw exemption request.
