Municipal services reopening

Stage 3 of the province’s reopening plan begins tomorrow, and with it, a new slate of services will open to the public. It also brings an easing of gathering restrictions, with gatherings of 100 allowed outdoors, and 25 indoors. Restaurants will no longer have table limits, and their capacity is only limited by the number of patrons they can accommodate through socially distanced tables.

Stage 3 also allows many municipal services to reopen. Here’s a guide to the municipal services re-opening with stage 3:

Fort Frances Public Library

The Fort Frances Library Technology Centre is open to in-person services. It’s open Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. and Wednesday 1-5 p.m.

The library will still offer a wide variety of online and outdoor programming throughout the summer, from virtual crafts to outdoor book walks and senior tech support. To find out everything going on at the library, visit them on Facebook or at www.ffpltc.ca.

Memorial Sports Centre

The Memorial Sports Centre will be opening on July 19, on an appointment only basis. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday 6 am – 10 pm and Saturday and Sunday 8 am – 10 pm. They have many program offerings, and a new version of the Recreator is now online on the Town of Fort Frances Website at: https://fortfrances.ca/sportscentre. Aqua Fitness classes are starting on July 19. Swimming lessons and summer programs are planned to re-start on the week of August 3. Please contact the Sports Centre at 274-4561 during business hours to book your appointment.

Private gyms, including Energy Fitness are also cleared to open. Check out your favourite one to see their re-opening plan.

Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre

The Museum will be re-opening July 27, with in-person visits, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Precautions will be in place, including limited capacity, COVID-19 screening, mandatory face masks, physical distancing, etc. Watch their facebook page for the latest programs!

Senior Centre

A number of programs are being offered to residents who are 55+. The woodshop will be open daily Monday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm starting July 26. For the latest programs, visit them on www.fortfrances.ca, or call Cindy Noble at 274-6743 or 271-2021.

The Fort Frances Curling Club

The Curling Club will re-open to event bookings, beginning July 16. Provincial rules will apply. To book an event or gathering, visit them on Facebook or call 274-6667.

Sorting Gap

Fuel sales at the Marina are available 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Restaurants

Indoor dining is back, starting tomorrow! Restrictions apply, and some establishments might need extra time to open to the full extent allowed. Give your favourite restaurant a call to see what services they have available.
