Much for kids to do next week

Local youths will have no excuse to stay indoors and play video games during March Break next week as the town is offering a number of activities for them to do.
Tying into its new “Passions! Threadworks 2007: Juried
Exhibition of Needle Arts” exhibit, which will run until April 12, the Fort Frances Museum will be holding drop-in activities for children next Monday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. each day.
There is no cost to attend, so come join the staff there for some fun needlework crafts.
Over at the Memorial Sports Centre, there will be “toonie” swims at the pool from March 9-16 (from 2-4:30 p.m. on the two Sundays and Saturday; from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday).
There also will be plenty going on at both arenas, with “toonie” skates, family skates, and shinny hockey be held every day next week.
“Toonie” skates for kids will be held at the Ice for Kids Arena on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 2:45-3:35 p.m.
Family skates will be held at IFK from 10:15-11:35 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, and from 10:30-11:50 a.m. on Thursday.
Shinny hockey for kids 13 and under will be held from 6:15-7:15 p.m. on Sunday through Saturday at IFK while shinny hockey for those 14 and over will run from 8:15-9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, and from 11:45-12:45 on Thursday.
Admission to toonie skates is $2. Admission to family skates is the daily admission rate for adults ($6.20 for residents, $7.10 for non-residents, kids with adults get in free).
Admission for shinny hockey is the daily admittance for students 14 and over ($4.60 for residents/$5.60 for non-residents) or children 13 and under ($3.10 for residents/$4.10 for non-residents).
Daily admittance also gives access to the rest of the Sportsplex facilities.

And on Wednesday (March 12), the children’s department at the Fort Frances Public Library will be holding a pirate party at 1 p.m.
Children aged six and up are encouraged to come to the library, where there will be costumes for them to dress up in, games to play, and snacks.
The cost is $2, but parents must be sure to pre-register their youngsters by calling 274-9870. Space is limited.
