One person is dead following a collision between a vehicle and a CN Rail freight train just before noon yesterday in Emo.
The accident occurred at the controlled crossing at Queen Street, near the intersection of Charles Street.
The OPP said the lone male driver was extricated from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances .
But he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Matthew Boven, 20, of Emo.
CN Police were at the scene with OPP Scenes of Crime officers, and have started a joint investigation.
Officers have confirmed the lights at the controlled crossing were in proper working order.
