Moffat money set to be disbursed

Staff

Which local clubs and groups will be the fortunate recipients of funds to help out their community projects?

The public will find out this evening when town council announces and hands out cheques to the recipients of the Moffat Family Fund.

As previously reported, the town has received a whopping $93,750 this year to redistribute to local worthwhile causes, significantly more money than the $60,000 the town divvied up to 17 different groups last June.

Local groups were urged to apply for a share of the grant back in March.

Tonight’s council meeting will follow the committee of the whole meeting, which gets underway at 5:30 p.m.

Four in-camera items are on the agenda first, all of which are personnel matters.

Other business on the agenda tonight includes:

  • a presentation of the 2018 financial statements by BDO Canada LLP;
  • a verbal update on capital projects;
  • a letter from the Kim Jo Bliss, treasurer of the Rainy River Vet Services Committee re: vet assistance trust fund; and
  • a bylaw to authorize the entering into of a land use agreement with Goodday Wholesales (Crozier Ltd.) o/a The Sleepy Owl. This agreement is to install a billboard sign on town property located at 1003 Frog Creek Road.
