Mayor Roy Avis will present 12 local applicants with their share of the $37,500 Moffat Family Fund pot the town was allocated for 2013 at tonight’s council meeting.
Individuals and organizations were invited in March to submit their requests, including a specific dollar amount and the rationale behind the request, to the local Moffat Family Fund committee.
This is the 11th-straight year the Town of Fort Frances has received money from the Moffat Family Fund to distribute to local groups and service clubs with the aim of helping youth and families.
The council meeting is scheduled to start at 6:50 p.m.
The committee of whole will meet first at 5:30 p.m., but be in-camera (behind closed doors) until 6:25.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•Traffic Control Bylaw amendments for the “Kiss ’N Ride” programs;
•a recommendation re: a nuisance bylaw request;
•a recommendation re: a request to designate a loading/unloading zone in front of 308 Butler Ave.;
•a recommendation re: a donation request from the Watten Volunteer Fire Department;
•a recommendation re: a request to donate to Boundary Waters Dragon Boat Festival;
•a recommendation re: request for water supply for 35 Oakwood Rd. (Township of Alberton);
•a travel and per diem claim for Mayor Roy Avis;
•a presentation by Jeff Savage of BDO Canada re: the draft of the town’s 2012 audited financial statement;
•an application for a zoning bylaw amendment re: the community garden on Lillie Avenue North;
•a request dated from the Fort Frances Community Garden Planning Committee re: proposed fencing/gates plan;
•a request from the Fort Frances Community Garden Planning Committee re: donation of chain link fencing from the Huffman site;
•a request from Linda Hamilton, on behalf of the Joan Allison Memorial Fund, re: the placement of a bench on the riverfront in honour of Bill and Joan Allison; and
•a request from the Sunny Cove Camp Advisory Committee re: camp fee schedule changes.
