Schools, community-based programs and non-profits alike were called upon by Mayor Andrew Hallikas during the June 22 town council meeting to receive their portions of the 2026 Moffat Family Fund.

Managed by the Winnipeg Foundation, the Moffat Family Fund is an initiative dedicated to supporting and advancing the economic, social, physical and intellectual well-being of children and families. The initiative has been consistently providing grants in the multimillion-dollar range to divide amongst municipalities in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario since 2001, when the Moffat family first donated $100 million to the Winnipeg Foundation, the largest donation ever made at the time towards a Canadian community foundation.

“One of the benefits of being mayor is that on behalf of council, you occasionally get to recognize great organizations that contribute so much to the quality of life in our community,” Hallikas said. “Not only do you get to thank them, but you do get to give them money. This evening, we announce funding from the Moffat Fund, which will assist these organizations to continue with the important work that they do for our community and our residents.”

$105,000 in funding was spread across 19 different Fort Frances organizations. The awarded recipients and their portioned amounts are as follows:
