The Town of Fort Frances will be receiving money from the Moffat Family Fund for the sixth-straight year, and those local groups and service clubs planning on applying for a share have until next Friday (Feb. 29) to do so.
Town secretary Lori Pattison reported no applications had been turned in as of yesterday morning, although quite a few forms have been picked up by interested parties.
Information packages are available at the Civic Centre or by calling 274-5323. Applications must be submitted by 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 29.
As in previous years, the Town of Fort Frances will receive $50,000 in funds to be redistributed to local worthwhile causes, with individuals and organizations being encouraged to submit requests for a portion of that funding, along with a supporting rationale.
Non-profit organizations are welcome to apply, but need to keep in mind that funding proposals must benefit children, families, and the “less advantaged.”
Organizations from outside Fort Frances, whose activities do not have a direct benefit to town residents, will not be considered.
Applications should be limited to two-five pages, and include the respective organizations’ charitable numbers.
After the deadline elapses, the local Moffat Fund committee will choose recipients and forward those selections on to the Winnipeg Foundation for its approval this spring.
Those recipients likely will receive their share of the $50,000 in late spring or early summer.
