MNR reports no new fires over weekend

With most of the region having received rain over the weekend, the Ministry of Natural Resources said there’s no new fires to report.
Red Lake Fire #32 is “being held” at 4,417 hectares.
Crews continue to extinguish hot spots but no problems are anticipated, and fire personnel and equipment are being released back to their home bases.
Meanwhile, the MNR continues to monitor eight lightning-caused fires in the region, including three in Quetico Provincial Park.
But as previously reported, these remote fires are being allowed to burn because they will help rejuvenate those specific ecosystems without harm or discomfort to the public, property, or values.
In related news, the Restricted Fire Zone in the East Fire Region remains in effect for the Sault St. Marie, Sudbury, and North Bay areas due to lack of rain.
To report a forest fire, call 310-FIRE (3473).
