M&M Meat Shops changing hands

After first opening their doors here more than 10 years ago, M&M Meat Shops owners Garth Donald and Judie Campbell are saying thank you to their loyal customers.

“We’d like to recognize the customers who have been here over the years, and so we’re giving them the opportunity to come in do some discounting for them and have a few desserts around,” Donald noted about the three-day “Thank You” sales event running today until Saturday there.

He stressed even if people aren’t looking to purchase something, he’d appreciate if people just stopped in to say good-bye.

“It’s been fabulous,” Donald enthused, adding they enjoyed being involved in many community events over the years, such as providing food for the Fort Frances High School reunion in 2000, the initial “Relay for Life” in 2001, and holding fundraising barbecues for local groups.

“Judie and I have always had confidence in the strength of this community and the strength of the people, which is why we opened the business and we know it’s going to continue to thrive,” he continued.

Ownership of the M&M Meats Shops will be transferred to another local resident beginning Feb. 24, but Donald noted he and Judie are not planning on leaving Fort Frances.

“We just want to thank our customers through the district for making the last 10 years so enjoyable,” he remarked.
