Missing man walks out of bush

A search for a 38-year-old Northwest Angle man reported missing near Nestor Falls on Wednesday night was called off Thursday morning after he showed up on his own, Sioux Narrows OPP said.
Conroy Paul and a male companion were hitchhiking north along Highway 71 from Nestor Falls when they decided to go down the M&R Brown Road, police said.
The pair continued down the road for a time, and then began to look for a snowmachine trail to take back to the highway. Then they tried to cross South Narrows Lake on foot but Paul broke through the ice and they were forced to retreat to shore.
They lit a fire to dry off and then tried to back track. But the men got separated at this point, which was around 8 p.m.
Sioux Narrows OPP and the OPP Northwest Region Emergency Response Unit responded after Paul’s companion found his way out of the bush and reported him missing.
Paul had not been heard from until Thursday morning when he had walked out of the bush on his own, police said.
