Could your son or daughter be the 2013 Fort Frances Mini-King or Mini-Queen?
The annual contest will be held here June 28, but parents who want to enter their children will have to act fast.
Organizer Melissa Gushulak said she will start taking registrations today.
She will accept the first 10 boys and first 10 girls aged four-seven as of July 1.
The deadline to sign up is Sunday, June 23, although the contest might fill up prior to then.
To enter your child, call Gushulak at 270-4875 (if she’s not home, leave a message and she’ll get back to you).
The entry fee is $5 per contestant, with the money going back into prizes for the event.
The contest will take place in front of the Fort Frances Museum starting at 11 a.m.
The boys will go first, followed by the girls. Each set of contestants should take about a half-hour.
Gushulak said the contest will consist of her asking the youngsters questions such as: “What school do you go to,” “What do you like to do in the summer,” or “Do you have any siblings?”
“It’s just basic, simple, straightforward questions,” she noted.
“I’ll ask parents the questions beforehand so I have them the day of the mini-king and queen [contest], so that if [the contestants] do get shy, I can kind of prompt them,” she added.
Each contestant will get a prize.
The mini-king and queen selected by the judges each will receive a banner, crown, and grand prize.
The newly-crowned mini-king and queen will be asked to participate in the Canada Day parade, along with the 2012 Mini-King and Mini-Queen (Even Bagacki and Serena Cousineau).
