Plans are underway for this year’s annual mini-king and mini-queen contest, but sponsors are needed to ensure it happens.
Organizer Melissa Gushulak said she’s looking for individuals and businesses to donate funds to help cover the costs.
“[It] goes towards the mini-king prize, mini-queen prize, two crowns, [and] thank-you gifts for the judges,” she noted.
“Plus every contestant who enters gets tons of small prizes.”
Gushulak is in the process of contacting past sponsors and is confident some of them will come through.
But she added new ones always are welcome.
Gushulak noted sponsors don’t have to donate a lot—even $25-$50 helps out.
Anyone wanting to help sponsor the contest is urged to contact Gushulak at 275-8526.
In the meantime, Gushulak already has someone willing to make and donate the banners, so she’s pleased with that.
The mini-contest, which often takes place before Canada Day, is looking to be held in late July this year.
Once sponsors have been secured, and details on the date and location have been confirmed, Gushulak will begin taking registrations.

As in past years, the contest will be open to boys and girls aged four-seven.
Each child is asked a few questions, with judges picking the winners.
