At approximately 12:10 a.m. on Sunday, the Fort Frances Fire & Rescue Service responded to a report of a fire at the Abitibi mill complex in the area of the paper machines.
When fire fighters arrived, mill staff had the fire contained and the automatic sprinkler system had activated.
Damage from the fire was minimal and fire fighters remained on scene for approximately two hours.
Cause of the fire is believed to have been an overheated bearing.
