Press Release
At the fourth-annual Oldtimers’ banquet, it was brought up that maybe we are not attracting younger past mill workers with the word “Oldtimer” in our name.
After all, 70 is the new 50s–and possibly 80 is the new 60s!
Today, middle age doesn’t stop until you’re 70!
Today’s over-50s show no sign of slowing down! And the Mill Alumni are going to celebrate that on May 25 at the local Legion.
It would be nice to see some millennials attend!
We have had almost as many name changes as the local mill: from the Quarter-Century Club to the Mill’s Oldtimers’ Club and now the Mill Alumni.
Alumni, which are gender-neutral, typically are used to identify past graduates or former members of a group or company.
If you ever worked in or about the mill, you’re an alumni!
Tickets for the fifth-annual Mill Alumni banquet on May 25, which begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., are now available at the Sister Kennedy Centre and From the Grind Up for $30 each.
They also are available by calling 274-5541, 274-5237, 274-9139, 274-9520, or 274-9648.
A reminder that tickets must be purchased by May 16.
