Mickey Rooney to perform at Backus

No, your eyes are not deceiving you.
Legendary Hollywood actor Mickey Rooney will grace the stage at Backus Auditorium in International Falls next Tuesday night (April 29) as he tours with his wife, Jan Chamberline Rooney.
The two will present an roughly 75-minute vaudeville-style performance entitled “The One Man-One Wife Show” that encompasses nostalgic movie clips, song, and dance.
Rooney, married eight times, brings a barrage of jokes about matrimony, divorce, and alimony to the stage, showing his never-wavering comedic genius.
His wife of 25 years, Chamberlain brings her highly-touted vocal talents for the audience to enjoy.
The 5’3”, 83-year-old performer has been in the entertainment industry for more than 80 years, having first found his way on stage at the age one during one of his parent’s vaudeville acts.
His movie credits over six decades, which total more than 300, include such classics as “Boys Town,” “The Andy Hardy” films, “The Human Comedy,” “National Velvet,” “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “Pete’s Dragon,” and “The Black Stallion.”
Tickets—which range in price from $20, $25, and $30—are on sale at Backus Auditorium weekdays from 8-11 a.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
