My name is Michael Loney and I am running for the position of mayor in the Township of Emo’s municipal election.
Having been born and raised in Emo, I have a strong desire to see this community continue to grow and prosper. I have been privileged over the last four years to serve Emo as an elected councillor and deputy mayor.
My term as councillor has been an eye-opening experience, as well as an education to the workings and responsibilities of municipal affairs. I am completely committed to continuing to invest the time and energy it takes to represent this wonderful community that we call home.
As an elected member of council, I have represented Emo on numerous committees over the last four years. I’m particularly proud of the steps we have taken to continue to improve our township.
For example, the joint partnership developed with neighbouring municipalities to help offset the costs of emergency services in our community has been of safety and financial benefit to all residents.
We also need to continue to have a strong and decisive voice at the table when dealing with the provincial and federal governments regarding ongoing infrastructure funding for projects that will benefit future generations.
I am pleased to have been a part of all the major improvements made to our water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater system, town and rural road projects, and the significant upgrades to our fire and emergency services, not to mention all the smaller projects and assets too numerous to mention.
I would like to thank the people of Emo for the opportunity to represent them over the last four years. It has been an honour and a privilege. I am always available and happy to discuss any issues pertaining to the Municipality of Emo and my role on council.
Thank you for your consideration.
