Menu unveiled for annual chefs’ dinner

The Alzheimer Society of Kenora-Rainy River District is getting ready for its third-annual “Chefs’ Charitable Dinner and Auction” coming up Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Adventure Inn here.
With only a week and-a-half to go, Margaret Schonewille, executive director of the local Alzheimer Society, said yesterday that most of the menu is now place.
And for those who still haven’t bought tickets for the fundraiser, it should “whet people’s appetites” and convince them to do so.
The dinner once again will feature a buffet prepared by district chefs, with food donated by area businesses.
Appetizers will include chicken and crab quesadillas, salmon and dill canapes, and assorted types of pizza, with cream of broccoli and cheese and wild rice as the two types of soup to be served up. Macaroni, Caesar, marinated vegetable medley, and garden salads fill out the rest of the first course.
Entrées will include maple glazed leg of ham, prime rib, “Chubby Chicken,” “Chester Fried” chicken wings, and beef Szechwan, with herb-roasted potatoes, roasted roots and sweet onions, mashed potatoes, cabbage rolls, pasta primavera with rose sauce, and special fried rice rounding out the course.
