The mayor of Fort Frances is pushing back against what he says are inaccurate comments made by the library union.
In a press release from CUPE 65, the union representing local library workers at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre that ran in yesterday’s Bulletin, the union stated that town council had decided to cut $25,000 from the library’s budget for 2025.
Fort Frances mayor Andrew Hallikas said that statement is incorrect, pointing out that the Town of Fort Frances has increased the funding it provided to the library over 2024.
According to the town’s 2025 Operating Budget, the Fort Frances Public Library has been provided $613,256 for its budget, an increase over last year’s budget of $611,392.
