May marked as Community Living Month

Press Release

May is a very special month. The weather has turned warm, the flowers are blooming, and new life is around every turn.
But there’s something else that makes May a great month–May is Community Living Month.
Celebrated annually across Ontario, Community Living Month is a time for everyone to join the Community Living movement as we celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of people with developmental disabilities.
This year marks the 46th year that Community Living Fort Frances and District has been assisting developmentally-disabled people in the Rainy River area.
To mark the occasion, CLFFD has a number of events happening this month, starting with the creation of our new website that will be launching soon.
Also out is our updated newsletter, “Inspiring Possibilities,” available at various locations around Fort Frances, as well as Good Impressions Printing and on our website in PDF format.
The newsletter will highlight different CLFFD events in the community, as well as topics pertinent to our readers, and will be issued bi-monthly.
As well, be sure to check out the Fort Frances Public Library’s wonderful display about developmental disabilities.
The set-up will remain for most of May, and is available to anyone who wants to learn more about these disabilities.
Finally, CLFFD has joined forces with the Heart and Stroke Foundation for the annual “Big Bike” ride, happening in front of Shoppers Drug Mart at noon on Thursday, May 19.
Show your support by joining the team or pledging a rider.
