Man charged after dispute

the OPP

Fort Frances OPP officers were called to a dispute between two males at a business in the area of First Street East and Portage Avenue around 3:25 p.m. on Sunday.
When officers arrived, both parties had separated and one of the males had left the scene.
Police learned the one male who left the scene was intoxicated, and was confrontational when asked to leave a local motel establishment.
A short time later, police located the intoxicated male a few blocks away and a short foot chase ensued.
Police identified the male as a suspect involved in the dispute, successfully apprehended the man, and placed him under arrest to prevent a further breach of the peace.
But as the male was being place under arrest, he became confrontational with police and was assaultive towards the officers.
Terence Potson, 36, of Seine River subsequently was charged with assaulting police and trespassing.
He was remanded into custody, and a date will be set for a show-cause hearing.
