As long as the weather cooperates, the BIA’s annual “Mall Days” is set to be a fun-filled day with plenty of activities, food, and sales galore outside on Scott Street.
“We’re bring back good, old-fashioned ‘Mall Days,’” enthused Richard Boileau of the BIA. “We’re really excited. It looks like we’re going to have a lot of the businesses participating.”
Boileau noted they will be closing down the 200 and 300 blocks of Scott Street for the event.
“We had sidewalk sales last year, but we didn’t close the street down and people expressed their disappointment with that,” he voiced.
He indicated most of the stores downtown will have sidewalk sales, while plenty of artisans and crafters will have their wares for sale.
The restaurants will extend out into the street with picnic tables and several lunch specials will be available, such as turkey schnitzel at La Flambée, a hamburger or cheeseburger with soup and fries at Dee’s, salmon burgers at The Kitchen Table, and ice cream at Le Hoa.
Celeste’s will be hosting a “Cuts for Cancer” there, while A Buck or Two is planning a kids’ carnival.
In addition, cars and boats will be on display by the local dealers and possibly some of the local stock cars will stop by.
“There is going to be lots to do, so people should come by and check it out,” Boileau stressed.
