‘Making Connections’ focus of week

What is the purpose of Mental Health Week?
The purpose of Mental Health Week is to increase awareness of the importance of good mental health, which is essential to everyone’s well-being and the sign of a healthy society.
The purpose also is to highlight the role of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), which assists people in “making connections” to help achieve and maintain good mental health.
Locally, the CMHA’s Fort Frances branch is focusing on making connections by encouraging a healthy community.
We are putting forth a challenge to the people of Fort Frances to get outside and do something physical during this week. We are asking people to run, walk, bike ride, wheelchair ride, etc. during the week.
Then on Thursday, they phone in their total minutes and Friday everyone who participates is invited to attend a hotdog barbecue.
The individual with the most minutes will win a prize as will the group of five. There also will be general draws and participation gifts for all on hand.
