The Fort Frances spray park needs a tsunami of support.
The proposed project is a semi-finalist in the Tbaytel For Good Community Campaign; with enough votes from the community, the project could be awarded the grand prize of $10,000.
According to the Make a Big Splash committee, voting began this morning at 7:30 a.m., with votes closing October 18 at 3:30 p.m.
The committee is asking everyone to please go online and vote for this project at http://www.tbaytelforgood.net. Vote as often as you can before voting closes on October 18th at 3:30 p.m. The top three projects that will receive funding will be announced on October 26, 2022. This will be the communities first opportunity to get on board and show their support for this project and “Make a Big Splash”.

According to a release from the committee, Council has approved the committee’s recommendation for the spray park to be located at the Legion Park on Lillie Avenue. The committee has been working hard on a draft plan for the park which will include the spray park, new washrooms, accessible access paths, parking, and traffic controls. The plan is being developed with the support of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 and input from residents in the area adjacent to the park. The committee’s vision for the park is a location that is central within the town and can be accessed by local residents and all members of surrounding communities. The project is scheduled to break ground in early 2023 opening in late summer.
Although fundraising is about to formally begin, donations towards the overall cost of the park and Legion Park rehabilitation have already begun. Residents are asked to follow the “Make a Big Splash FF” Facebook page for the latest on fundraising and other community involvement initiatives.
