A sophisticated indoor marijuana grow operation was uncovered Wednesday when police executed a search warrant at 1034 Victoria Ave. here.
The Fort Frances Community Drug Action Team, with the assistance of the Northwest Region/Fort Frances Crime Unit, Kenora OPP Drug Enforcement Section, and Northwest Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau seized 110 marijuana plants, four pounds of marijuana shake (crushed up dried marihuana leaves and stems), hydroponics growing equipment, and drug paraphernalia.
One male was charged with production of marijuana, police reported this morning. He is scheduled to appear in court here Dec. 7
But police said the investigation is continuing and that further charges are pending.
During the execution of the search warrant, police consulted with Fort Frances Power Corp., the Fort Frances chief building inspector, Northwestern Health Unit, and the Fort Frances Fire Department.
As a result, no access is permitted to the residence pending further investigation.
Meanwhile, three people are facing charges following the execution of a search warrant Sept. 30 at a La Vallee Township residence.
Police seized 17 marijuana plants being grown outdoors, along with drug paraphernalia.
One female was charged with production of marijuana while a male was charged production of marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana, and breach of probation, police said.
A second male was charged with production of marijuana and breach of court conditions, police added.
All three are scheduled to appear in court here Nov. 16.
And on Sept. 28, 49 grams of marijuana was seized after police executed a search warrant at a Church Street residence here.
Two males were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana, police reported.
One of the males also was charged with breach of an undertaking.
Both are scheduled to appear in court here Nov. 16.
The names of all those charged were not released by the police.
