A delegation of 10 women representing Riverside Health Care Facilities, Rainy River District Breast Health Network and the Canadian Cancer Society attended the 5th World Conference on Breast Cancer in Winnipeg on June 5–8.
“We had the opportunity to meet with delegates from thirty two countries around the World”, enthused Sandy McKinnon who is a Registered Nurse and certified examiner for Riverside’s Breast Health Program.
“We came together to exchange information, support the many survivors and learn more about the prevention and treatment of breast cancer”, she said.
McKinnon was impressed with the amount of work being done around the world for a common cause.
“On a global scale, intensive research and clinical trials are taking place,” she said. “People are working together to create a future without breast cancer”
“We all brought back a wealth of information aimed at promoting breast health in our district,” added McKinnon.
The group of women were all very appreciative of the financial support received from Riverside Health Care Facilities, the Rainy River District Breast Health Network and the Canadian Cancer Society to allow them the opportunity to attend the conference.
