Miss Teenage Rainy River District Alyssa Chiasson is now in Toronto vying for the title of Miss Teenage Canada.
Her eight-day pageant stint began Monday and each day so far has been filled with plenty to do.
Chiasson said she has been busy meeting the other 80 contestants.
She attended a welcoming party, where the hopefuls met sponsors, as well as received new sashes, shoes, and jewellery.
The following day, Chiasson had her hair and makeup done for a photo shoot and video shoot.
She also had her preliminary interview with the judges.
“Part of me was nervous but part of me was just excited to meet the judges finally and get to talk to them,” Chiasson wrote on her Facebook page.
She added details of the interview are confidential at this point so she is not able to share any specifics.
The rest of the week is expected to include high-profile public appearances, interviews with local, provincial, and national media, and attending gala fundraising events.
Contestants are being judged on the interview, evening gown, swimwear, charity contribution, public speaking, community engagement, and photogenic
appeal.
Chiasson also is set to perform a dance routine as part of the optional talent competition portion.
The local teen is hoping to crack the top 20—and is turning to the public for help to do so.
Chiasson is urging people to vote for her as their “favourite girl” in the Miss Teenage Canada competition.
To vote, visit www.missteenagecanada.com and click on “VIP CLUB.”
Enter your name and e-mail address, and you will receive further instructions in an e-mail.
“Only one vote per e-mail account is accepted so I need as many different people as possible to vote,” Chiasson stressed.
“Thanks, everyone, for your support,” she added.
The winner will be crowned Sunday (Aug. 9).
