Local theatre group seeks help moving

Those interested in getting involved in Fort Frances Little Theatre can lend the group a hand in moving their props and equipment this Sunday afternoon, then attend a meeting afterwards.
“Fort Frances Little Theatre has a new home through the generosity of local businessman Gord McQuarrie, who is providing space for us and we are very thankful,” said long-time FFLT member and sometimes director Cathy Richards.
She noted people can come out to help move at 1 p.m. at the west end hall (near the Legion Park), and that the FFLT will be having a meeting afterwards.
“This is a big load off our shoulders—finding a space to go to—as the west end hall is being levelled sometime soon,” Richards added. “Now we can go onto more important tasks like a show.”
Richards noted the FFLT soon will be reading “I’ll Be Back Before Midnight” by Canadian playwright Peter Colley, and invites new members to get involved.
“I’ll Be Back Before Midnight” has been described by the Toronto Globe & Mail as the most popular stage play in Canadian history.
A tense thriller with moments of comedy, it has been produced in 25 countries, including nearly every state in the U.S. and every province in Canada.
It has broken numerous box office records, including the 2005 record-breaking UK National Tour, and even was made into a Hollywood feature film starring Heather Locklear, Ned Beatty, Robert Carradine, and Susannah York.
“‘The Reunion’ is another play on the backburner which will be in production really soon, as well,” added Richards.
“The Reunion” is a play by Australian writers Daniel Evans and Rebecca Meston dealing with the whole high school experience.
The play depicts two groups of people who meet one evening. One is a group of senior high school students intent on having the time of their lives at their school formal and the other is a group who are having a 10-year high school reunion.
The twist is that these are one and the same group of people.
