Local runners didn’t ‘Embarrass’

A group of local runners headed to Embarrass, Mn. on Sunday for the 24th-annual Embarrass Flying Finish 10-km run, and didn’t “embarrass” themselves one bit.
Don DeBenedet ran away with first place in the 50-59 age group with a time of 43:31 while Bob Tkachuk finished with a time of 58:39 in that same division.
Keri Russell took third in the 30-39 age group with a clocking of 52:48, with Ed Wiersema crossing the finish line in 54:14 in the 40-49 age bracket.
Mary-Beth Tkachuk, meanwhile, competed in the three-mile walk there and finished in a time of 42:26.
In related news, the fifth-annual Pride of Canada marathon and half-marathon is coming up Sunday, Sept. 19 in Thunder Bay.
To enter the full marathon, you must be 16 years old or older as of Aug. 31, 2004. You must be 14 years old or older as of that date to enter the half-marathon.
