Fort Frances resident Alan Webb turned some spare change into a windfall when he won a $100,000 Encore prize from the Sept. 14 draw.
“I went to buy a paper. I had a loonie and a toonie left in my hand and bought a 6/49 ticket with Encore,” the retired salesman told the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. in Toronto when he claimed his prize.
Webb, 77, and his wife, Doreen, have four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He is undecided about his plans for the money.
“I’m going to play it smart, give my kids a few bucks, and play it by ear right now,” he noted.
The winning ticket was purchased at Sparky’s Confectionary here.
