A Fort Frances man won the $250,000 Encore prize from the Aug. 7 draw, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. reported yesterday.
“I first saw the winning numbers on television and I couldn’t believe it,” Wayne Lengyel Jr. told staff at the OLC’s Toronto prize office when he claimed his windfall.
“I wasn’t sure about the prize amount, so I had it [the ticket] validated at a store,” he added. “When the clerk told me I had won $250,000, the first thing I said was ‘Bonus.’”
Lengyel, 33, is a carpenter. He and his girlfriend, Mandy, have one son.
His plans for the windfall are to buy a house and get married.
The winning Encore ticket was purchased at the 364 Food Store here.
