A 29-year-old Fort Frances man was charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg, and possession of marijuana on Saturday.
Fort Frances OPP officers observed the man operating a 1976 motorhome in an erratic manner on Scott Street shortly after 1 a.m.
The man was able to avoid police at that time by parking the vehicle and fleeing on foot. But he was located on the 300 block of Scott Street at shortly after 2 a.m. and taken into custody.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 22.
Also Saturday around 9 p.m., Fort Frances OPP officers responded to a 9-1-1- hang-up call from a pay phone located on the 800 block of Highway 11 in Fort Frances.
Investigation revealed a Manitou FNT women, 23, had made the call in an attempt to get a ride home by the police.
She was intoxicated and subsequently arrested. She then became combative with police, and began kicking and spitting on the officers.
She subsequently was pepper-sprayed to ensure the officers’ safety.
The woman was charged with assaulting police and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 5.
The Fort Frances OPP would like to remind everyone of the importance of locking his or her vehicle or bike. Thefts of bikes and from motor vehicles are drastically reduced if they are locked.
