Local insurance brokers set to merge

Cousineau Brokers Inc. and Gillons’ Insurance Brokers Ltd. announced this morning they will merge, effective Jan. 1.
The company will operate under the name of Gillons’ Insurance Brokers Ltd. and be located at Gillons’ current location (326 Church St)
The companies stressed the new business arrangement will not affect service to their current customers and, in fact, will “allow them to offer a broader range of competitively-priced insurance products in Northwestern Ontario.”
Cousineau Brokers sent out notices to its customers in the mail today, which they should receive over the next couple of days.
The parties noted the main reason for the merger is to remain competitive and continue to provide local service to its customers in an ever-increasing marketplace, where insurance is solicited daily through banks, the mail, and the Internet.
Starting in January, Larry Cousineau and staff members Anne Forget, Debbie Armstrong, Cathy Wrolstad, Trish Larson, and Tyler Cousineau will be moving over to work at Gillons’.
No staff will be reduced because of the merger.
Meanwhile, Dan Cousineau will stay at Cousineau Brokers’ current location (250 Scott St.), where he will continue to own and operate the real estate business under the name of Cousineau Real Estate Ltd.
Cousineau noted the business will be based on the ground level, allowing for room to expand and easier access for clients.
