The Fort Frances branch of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce will be undergoing some changes this fall in a bid to modernize the building.
“We are having some major renovations to the branch, it involves total restoration of the interior to totally modernize the branch,” explained Jeff Romanyshyn, CIBC’s general manager for Northwestern Ontario.
The renovations fall on the heels of the installation of new bank machines installed at the branch this spring to improve efficiency and customer service there.
“We’re moving the entire teller line over to the other side. The renovations will include new technology for our tellers so customers won’t have to wait as long,” said Romanyshyn.
“We want to upgrade as much as we can in the Fort Frances area to show our commitment to the area,” he added.
Construction at the branch is scheduled to begin within the next two weeks and be completed by the end of October.
“We will be open to the public, most of the work will be done after hours or on weekends,” said Romanyshyn.
The Fort Frances CIBC branch will also have a new manager as of Monday because Romanyshyn has been promoted to general manager for all the Northwestern Ontario branches.
Jeff Samson, a CIBC employee with over 20 years experience, will be arriving from Manitoba next week.
A new account manager has also been hired at the branch as Rebecca Webb, of Holmlunds Financial, has taken on the position there.
Meanwhile, Romanyshyn will work out of a separate office in town.
“I had the opportunity to relocate anywhere in Northwestern Ontario but I chose to remain in Fort Frances because I love the town,” he noted.
