Local author launches Hallowe’en book

With Halloween just six weeks away, now is the perfect time for ghost and goblin lovers of all ages to begin planning for their favourite haunted holiday.
And for local author and designer Susan Cousineau, this Hallowe’en will be even more frightful as she celebrates the launch of her latest book, “Spooky Hallowe’en Crafts.”
Although the book actually was released back in March, Cousineau decided to wait until the fall season before initiating any local promotions.
But with the smell of autumn in the air, she is ready to deck your haunted halls with her creepy creations to help you celebrate the scariest night of the year in “spook-tacular” style!
And “Spooky Hallowe’en Crafts” will show you how with 35 hauntingly easy projects and decorating tips.
With its three themed chapters, you’ll discover oodles of frightfully fun ideas for Hallowe’en décor, gifts, and favours, as well as planning the perfect Monster Mash party for the kids.
“The great thing about ‘Spooky Hallowe’en Crafts’ is that there is something for all tastes and skill levels, including both adults and children,” noted Cousineau.
“For the older ‘ghouls,” there’s some gruesome severed finger party favours that look just like the real thing—complete with realistic blood drippings and crawling insect critters.
“For the kids, there’s lots of ‘not so scary’ ideas, such as cookie monster pizza and a haunted graveyard finger puppet stage.”
“Spooky Hallowe’en Crafts,” which retails for $22.99, is the second book in a series of four titles Cousineau will have published by North Light Books, a division of F&W Publications in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cousineau’s previous title, “Easy Christmas Crafts,” was released in July, 2003 and her third title, “Enchanted Garden Crafts,” will be released this coming fall.
Her fourth book, “Crafting A Dream Wedding,” currently is in the works.
As part of her local book promotions, Cousineau will be offering a special introductory price of $20 on the sale of her books—and the opportunity to win some “frightfully fun” draw prizes.
Her book will be available for sale during the last two Saturdays at the Clover Valley Farmers’ Market—for their Pumpkin Day on Oct. 23 and the Friends of Animals’ “Haunted HOWL-o-ween” Pet Festival on Oct. 30.
For those of you who’d like to get a jump-start on all of your creepy Hallowe’en crafting, you may purchase Cousineau’s book directly by contacting her at 274-1831 or 274-5154.
